Islay of Skye ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel für Wanderer und Bergsteiger. Der Skye Trail ist eine 5-7 tägige, absolut grandiose Tour, durch das schottische Hochland. Die Route folgt dem Trotternish Ridge, vorbei am Quiraing sowie den Küstenklippen auf der Islay of Skye. Eine mittlere, schöne, aussichtsreiche und meistens auch nebelige Wanderung erwartet euch in Islay of Skye. Ich fand die Tour grandios. Chapeau!

A good leg-stretching walk in a visually stunning coastal landscape. The St Cyrus Nature Reserve is a very special place for plants and wildlife. The route takes in the old raised beach, a long stretch of golden sand, a waterfall, and wonderful clifftop views.Duration: 2.5 hours.

An easy little walk with fine views around and about the coastal village of Newburgh-on-Ythan. The walk takes in the dunes environment, a beach where basking seals in large numbers can be observed, and a gentle circuit around the picturesque old golf course.Duration: 1.5 hour.

An enjoyable country ramble in Mid-Deeside, characterised by rolling fertile farmland, upland pine forests and heather hilltops. The route is clear, apart from a short section on an overgrown old road, and the ascents are gradual. There are wonderful views throughout the walk.Duration: 3.25 hours

An easy coastal ramble, mostly through arable farmland. The old fishing station and haul-out inlet for boats at Old Portlethen is a scenic highlight. It is important that walkers keep to the path on the stretch along the cliff-tops, where the slopes are steep and slippy. Duration: 1.75 hours.

There are no significant ups and downs on this gentle hike, taking in Findhorn Bay and some of the wide sweep of Burghead Bay, where there is a special dunes eco-system. Later, part of the route is in pine woods, passing through the world-renown Findhorn Foundation community.Duration: 2.5 hours.
